Quality texts

We all need to develop our subject knowledge and one of the best ways to do it is to talk with other colleagues about what they are doing in their schools.

So that’s what we’ve decided to do!

We have set up termly secondary networks where it’s a chance to hear a subject leader talk about what they have found helpful in developing the subject in their school, some of the difficulties they’ve addressed and how they help colleagues to know more about resources to help them to do a great job. This term’s networks are focused on reading across the curriculum.

The Just Reading research from Sussex University makes a clear case for the importance of reading quality texts with young people in secondary English lessons. It is our belief that this principle applies to the whole of the secondary curriculum. This first set of secondary subject networks involves conversations with subject experts from across the curriculum about how they are choosing these texts, how they then share them with pupils and how they provide support to ensure effective learning. The result is a set of inspiring, thought-provoking and engaging conversations that will provide teachers and curriculum leaders with a range of invaluable ideas on how to increase the use of quality tests in their classrooms.

You can get access to all the network meetings if you have a paid subscription to Myatt & Co. We look forward to seeing you!
